It is often assumed that food and shelter assistance is readily available. In 2008 there were
672,000 homeless persons on a given night. This is likely to be grossly below the true figure which other sources estimate to be as high as
2.5million. What is known is that there were
611,000 beds available and facilities outside major urban centers
are extremely limited. In the 2008 Hunger and Homelessness Survey,
52% of participating cities reported that they are unable to meet the need for providing shelter and that it is necessary to turn people away some or all of the time. Some cities reported that they are not meeting the need
for emergency food assistance. Furthermore, 95% expected demand for food and housing assistance to increase during 2009-2010.
We received our 501c3 status on November 9, 2004. Since 2004, we have helped over 632 women obtain employment and stable housing with 73% completing the program and remaining drug free. Out of the 100-150 women served each year, 73-109 become graduates. We are blessed with two apartment complexes and a duplex, serving 33 women at once. And while we are so happy with our growth, there is still more to be done. We continue to see women in need and want desperately to serve them. You can join in our mission and make a life-changing difference in the lives of Nashville women.
