
Executive Director
Katrina “Trina” Frierson
Trina is responsible for all fiscal, administrative, and
programmatic functions in the organization under the management
and guidance of the Executive Committee. Trina develops and
leads the therapeutic community program for program residents.
She develops and updates program materials; counsels residents
individually and in groups; conducts regular and special classes;
evaluates program performance; makes decisions regarding the
admission and discharge of residents; and hires, schedules,
supervises and evaluates program staff. Fundraising responsibilities
include: working with the G&S committee and external consultants/resources
in creating and coordinating direct mail campaigns; fostering
relationships with foundations; proposal writing and reporting;
coordinating fundraising events; maintaining the donor database;
and development of donors at all levels. Public Relations
responsibilities include writing and producing all printed
materials, including the annual report; providing regular
email updates to supporters; and working with the media to
broaden public knowledge of addiction, recovery, and the work
of Mending Hearts.
Deputy Director
Charlotte Grant
Charlotte is responsible for bookkeeping, financial management,
fundraising and public relations/media-related activities
as charged by Executive Director, and also supervises the
daily activities of the program and Program Coordinator /
Case Manager.
The Deputy Director is empowered to make decisions in the
absence of the Executive Director within the confines of policy
developed and monitored by the Board of Directors.
Program Coordinator
Our Program Coodinator reports directly to the Deputy Director.
Activities include: program liaison and scheduling assistant,
strategizing with staff leadership and the Board to broaden
and diversify the volunteer base; supplying the monthly “wish
list” to supporters; recruiting new volunteers and broadening
their organizational activities, and maintaining all client,
volunteer and donor records. The Program Coordinator is responsible
for performing client intake; working with staff to develop
Individualized Recovery Plans; counsel residents individually
and in groups; monitor the whereabouts of the residents; dispense
medication and maintain the medicine log book; perform urinalysis
on residents as needed; and maintain resident records and
database.
Volunteers
Mending Hearts has a well-developed volunteer base. Volunteers
come in weekly to conduct mentoring sessions, life skills
workshops, recovery discussion and 12-step groups and other
programs to residents to assist with their recovery. Volunteers
represent a key component of our cost savings (and income,
as many volunteers also contribute financially).
